Good review, I agree with most of it, but I don't think Billy goes off-key as often as you say. Either way, his voice sounds very dull nowadays.

Good review!

And yet still: I refuse to consider this a Pumpkins albm.

I'd like to hear and see if it's any good though.

^^

There's credibility to that, but in the same breath, then 95% of Siamese Dream isn't a Smashing Pumpkins record, considering Corgan wrote and played all of the music except the drums.

Why do you refuse to consider this a Pumpkins album? Like he said, look in the Siamese Dream booklet; most of it was written, recorded, and produced by him so why does it matter?

And secondly, band members change all the time. Why is it such a big deal when the Pumpkins do it?

A good solid album from the Pumpkins. Not as good as the first three albums, of course

OMG, What got you so ticked off at me to begin with? I don't know who you are, I have no freaking idea what "troll voting" is, and if I did, I'm sure I wouldn't do it...what gives???

It's not that they had a linep change, it's that Corgan was conceited, tried and failed at new projects, and took the drummer that he had on those projects (and in the Pumpkins) and revitalized a marketing tool instead of a band. It's a good album, but why wasn't there this much hype over Zwan or The Future Embrace? Each of those had the exact same number of original Pumpkins members (Chamberlain was on the only two live-drum tracks of Embrace, and was a member of Zwan).

Other than that, when I listen to it, I hear the difference. And it's not like Billy had stryed from the electronic angle that he'd taken from Adore through Embrace. It's an obvious return to form (ala Gish Dream era), made only for prposes of marketing and recognition.

Hell, maybe I'd do the same. But facts are facts: Good album; a marketing/ recognition ploy; cheap "reunion"; and a strained Billy voice.

And although Corgan may have dubbed over a few things in Siamese Dream, Iha and D'arcy were still in the band, had SOME influence on the songs, and Iha even wrote a couple. Hell, they still get royalties for that one too!

This album has grown on me profusely, and this is my re-written review. Its kind of lengthy, but informative.

Not in a million years is this, in any way, better than Gish.
