It takes a good long time to get wrapped around the concept, but, like a car wreck, it’s hard to turn away, despite how much you might really, really want to.

Oh, I found this incredibly easy to turn away from.

I just listened to this in it's entirety, usually I get sick of it after Moonlight In Vermont. Apart from a few unnecessary inclusions this still remains completely enthralling, the interplay between the musicians blows my mind.

I loved this album the first time I heard it. The next disc, Lick My Decals Off, Baby, continues the overall ideas of TMR in a more accessible way. A classic disc through and through.

do you feel the hippy talk filler is a bit annoying though

i loved the dust blows forward and the dust blows back but later on it just seems to be a self parody of itself

No. Each part of the album is vital to Vliet's musical language. Those talk sections are as important as his choice to put cardboard on Drumbo's cymbals. And the latter half of the album has the best stuff on the disc. The hypermanic paranoia of The Blimp, Wild Life, and And Man Bee are two tracks that are just as strong as Dachau Blues.

I liked this at first listen, but that may be because I've already familiarized myself with the weird aesthetic of Scissor Shock and Sun City Girls

This was disappointing in the sense that I was expecting something really weird. I don't find this to be that weird, it's different but that's it. Really good though, no doubt about that.

the only really melodic sounding music on this album is probably at the end of veterans day poppy. great song, yet the rest album is much more memorable, despite how "unlistenable" it may be. very interesting stuff
