"How could you review this without mentioning how absolutely atrocious the vocals are?"

Maybe one could say theyre generic....but horrible? youre an idiot...he hits every note, man

i think hes the perfect vocalist to enjoy while not stealing the show away from the music and song writing

there was the rumor back then that Chuck asked from Warrel Dane to sing in the record, but Warrel couldn't due to his obligations with Nevermore.

Maybe one could say theyre generic....

spot on.

The album rocks.

The lead guitars here are of equal quality (if not better) to the corresponding ones in Symbolic.

These songs to me are just what Death would sound like if Chuck could sing clean. The guitars are awesome just like they would be in a Death album. The singer is actually pretty good. At first I was having trouble with the vocals but after a couple of listens I noticed that everything fits quite well.

Apparently the only letdown of the album are the vocals. But after getting used to it I couldn't imagine it with a different singer. Tim's performance on let's say expect the unexpected is brilliant I think. Screaming aggressive yet melodic. And I heard the Schuldiner family won the rights for Chuck's material for When Man and Machine Collide from their label and the album should be released maybe this month or early next year. I'm pretty curious and hope they won't make a hash of it...

Some great riffage in this, and Schuldiner's clean voice is a lot better than his death growl, imo.
