The chorus to that song is its saving grace! Well its better than Russel's forced, deep vocals for the rest of the song.

I may be alone, but I think that Twilight In Olympus is maybe the best Symph X album... Followed by The Odyssey and Divine Wings. This one is good too, but I prefer the old style.

Heard a great deal about this band, picked up this CD and I really enjoyed it. It's got a great deal of variety on there...just a lot to enjoy you know? The parts I didn't enjoy were the guitar solos actually. The guitarist starts out strong but then just breaks into shredding. Yeah, shows talent, but after awhile it's just not what I wanna hear anymore.
Nevertheless, overall I really enjoyed this CD and highly recommend it to any prog fans...it is quite epic.

Twilight and Divine Wings were awesome CDs. The Odyssey pisses me off, it just bores the crap out of me after the first two tracks

I disagree. But maybe thats because I listen to so much power metal that Im used to pointless shredding, and I find this a bit more managed... but to each their own.
And The Odyssey has grown off me tremendously, I only like Accolade II, Awakenings, and The Turning now.

This is one of those bands I keep meaning to buy a crapload of albums for, but forget the minute I walk into Best Buy.

Domination and Walls of Babylon are pretty much the best songs on the Album if you ask me. Take the reviewer's advice and get the CD, but ignore the rest of what he says. Make your own determination as to what is good.

Alright, I listened to Domination again, I admit that I never took appreciation to the mid section of the song, those riffs and solos are pretty damn awesome. The song just seems to pale before and after that though.

I should listen to this.

If you're digging Octavarium, you're really going to like this. I'd say this is a better album.

Yea, this is Symphony X at their best here. In my opinion anyway.
I really like that they toned down the cheesiness and went a bit heavier. I only wish that you could hear LePond a bit more. He was really great on their earlier albums and he is a great bassist. He does get to shine on the opening of Domination and bridge of Seven though.

That's saying a lot more than most bassists though. He leaves a good impression after listening to the album in full.

^^^You can hear him pretty good in the ballads too, if you listen carefully.

Really? I don't remember hearing him in Paradise Lost(the song). Maybe my headphones are crap. Also I gotta give you props for the whole New Jersey being the best thing haha.

I disagree on your opinions on the songs a bit. My top tracks are Set The World On Fire, Paradise Lost, Eve Of Seduction and The Walls Of Babylon.
I love the intro to TWOB a lot, i can't see why you describe it as annoying.I think Seven is overrated by a lot of people while Eve of Seduction doesn't seem to get much love, which is sad. I also like Domination, even if the vocals kinda suck.
Anyway, my overall opinion of the album is pretty much the same as yours...
