All Neurosis slays though. Lots of people seem to underrate A Sun That Never Sets though I really like that album.

Hahahah I forget about that album. I also really enjoyed it.
Stones From the Sky is one of my all time favourite tunes. The psychedelic ending to that song is so powerful. The rest of the album is weird but unique. This Message Edited On 01.30.08

So far, I would definately say this is my favorite. A couple of factors though is I've had it longer than most Neurosis and I'vre listened to it most. Lastly, I pretty much just need Enemy Of The Sun to have them all, and I've only had A Sun That Never Sets for a few weeks/listens. As far as this concerned though, it really is incredible start to finish!!

My favorite album of all time. For the record I don't think Neurosis sounds anything like Isis, if anything they're closer in sound to Cult Of Luna with the sparse and minimalist sections. Isis, and Pelican and other post-rock/metal bands like the thick groovy sections. Neurosis to me is a band that is far and few, one of the most creative bands around.

Agreed! I find Isis and Cult of Luna take the best parts of Neurosis and totally make it their own sound.
|
| |
So say I wanted to check out Cult Of Luna (because I like ISIS and Neurosis) where should one start?

Salvation is the best place to start because of the huge riffs and soft passages (like what Neurosis does best). Somewhere Along the Highway if you want something a bit more accessible.

I just listened to this again last night, and it is definitely my second favorite of their albums. I don't anything will ever surpass "Souls at Zero".

Souls at Zero just doesn't cut it for me. Sure its their first album where they try and expand on their past, crusty, punk sound, but Steve Von Till's voice is just awful on that record.

Souls is the first album I ever heard by them, so it has a special place, I guess (the first song I ever heard was their cover of a Dead Kennedy's song on an Alternative Tentacles compilation).

Ah, sentimental value. I guess I feel the same way about this album. It was my first experience with Neurosis.

This review is bad.
A Season in the Sky and No River to Take Me Home are two of the best songs ever. This may be the best album I've ever heard - a review will come soon.

the best album you have ever heard!! holy cow

Commortus,
Go read my mediocre review for this if you find this bad. I plan on tightening my review up when I get a chance.
