Great review as always, Nick. I think at times they go overboard with the guitar freak-outs, and the vocals aren't for everyone, but these guys are talented as f*ck and for a first album, this rules. I'm still partial to Minus The Bear, though... especially Planet Of Ice :D

I have never actually listened to a minus the bear album, but if it is anything like this...I am sure to love it.

Is Planet of Ice really that good? I'm hearing some massive hype already, I got Dr. Ling, thought it was ok.
'Highly Refined Prates' I still find absolutely gorgeous

Planet Of Ice is freaking epic, and by far their most cohesive album yet. MTB got stoned and listened to some Pink Floyd, it seems. If anyone wants it, AIM at STFDood84 or check out Glassjaw.net's MTB thread.

At first I had a hard time getting into it. The vocals were just annoying to me, but I really wanted to like it because the instrumentals were amazing. Reminded me a bit of Tera Melos.
The vocals have grown on me and this band is slowly becoming a favorite.

I like this better than Tera Melos's new cd, but that cd is nice too.
Great album.

So ya I spent a day or two figuring out how M&A engage in their tapping techniques. It's actually not as hard as you would think. All of the craziness comes from instruments doubling. All of the riffs are inventive and fun but not that hard. Still wonderful though.

I missed this band and These Arms Are Snakes last year. I didn't find out until just now. I am very pissed about that.

I find myself listening to this album at least once a week, it really hasn't wore out at all. The bass lines are sooooo good, specifically 'Stories About Ourselves'

This is awesome, and owns the crap out of the "Beer Commercials" Minus the Bear album I have.

I'll see these guys in a few hours! Wish me luck..
