Track 10 is "-" but it's ambiance to separate the album from the remix of Tranquilizer Song

Can I ask for just one favour? Don't turn these guys into Converge. Like, I don't think this album is a 4.5 at all. It's marred by production problems, the vocoder use can be irksome, and at times the vocals leave something to be desired.

how did i turn them into converge?
oh yeah, i noticed the production problems too, like how the keys could really overpwer the other instruments, but it isn't that much of a problem for me..... yet. and i quite enjoy the vocals.

im not saying you're turning them into converge, im just saying.

No that was intentional. And that's an organ; it's used in the same vein as the symphony on Hangman's Hollow. You should beware when you say "keys". I dont know if you mean keyboards, but that's the idea I get. Sigh never use keyboards. Ever.

nah, i meant keyboard instruments i general, like piano, synths, organs, etc. though some parts do sound like keyboard though.
and what production problem were there?

You seriously have to ask? The album sounds like shit. The levels are way off. The production is so unforgivable that Mirai had to fabricate stories about sonic weapons techniques to justify it.
|
| |
Uh.... of course they do. You might not believe it, but the organ and the mellotron are keyboard instruments, not some otherwordly things Mirai built with his own hands. Also, he himself said he was influenced by Miles Davis for this album, so the jazz thing ain't all wrong.
But why do you have to get so nitpicky anyway? Does it really matter what instruments they used exactly? I for one don't give a shit.

eh, i tend to not notice this things. if an album sounds good to me, it sounds good to me. and the guitars sound muddy and put too low in the mix, and as i said, the keys could overpower the guitars quite alot, but the record is still really enjoyable.

Just because they have keyboards doesn't mean they are keyboards. And just because you're influenced by Miles Davis doesn't mean you sound like him.

It matters when he says it uses "only a keyboard" when in actuality it employs everything I listed

I'm not talking about mix. The sound is unfavourable, and it's nothing new; production marred Scenario IV: Dead Dreams. The organs are not too overpowering, that's not my deal. This Message Edited On 06.02.07

yeah, thanks for telling me. it's really hard to distinguished the instruments on that song. and i don't have their back catalog so i wouldn't be able to know what their past production is like.
still, who cares about the faults. lets just all agree that sigh is an awesome band. This Message Edited On 06.02.07

Yeah dude, I just had the case in front of me so I felt like it was worth mentioning. In one sense I wanted to make sure you had it right, and I also wanted to make it known that this album enlists a fucking THEREMIN!!This Message Edited On 06.02.07

It's still a good review, but in the introduction I would talk about how its difficult to classify Sigh genre-wise, and how they've evolved over time, instead of the whole Asia embargo. This Message Edited On 06.02.07

but t3h intro rockzsor. gives it a exotic, mystical feel and cast the reader's minds into the strange and exotic world of east asia.
plus this review made me want to check out asian bands so hopefully it'll have the same effect on other people. i found a couple of pretty good ones.
strangely, all of them are indian.

I'm compelled to check this band out. Would this be easy to get into even if I haven't listened to much black metal before?
