This is somewhere between a 2.5 and a 3 for me. What's so weird about Circa Survive is that the idea of Anthony Green with cool ambient guitar work could be awesome, but they just try to hard, and it's not coming from the right starting point it seems. Oh, and I dig the cover art.

I think the drumming's nice... Anthony's Anthony and the rest of the band... to be honest I never really took much notice of it in Juturna either. I don't know, it still works out alright for me.

wow how can you work on a music website, yet be so blind to music, if u listened to either album (which is hard to tell bcuz u didnt even get the first song title right) how can u even say they are the same. i'm not telling you to like the band or either cd, but at least have the integrity to give a review that is remotely correct, this album is a huge difference from juturna, and a great step for the band

Serpento is sad for Circa Survive. As for me, I can't say i'm suprised that this isnt very good. The first cd had a few good songs, but most was unbearably average.

Wow, how can you be a citizen of an English speaking country and still be so blind to proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation? How can you even say that you aren't the biggest tool to ever post in a Circa Survive review (and god what an honor that is)?

Just listened to the full album, I agree with you pretty much. Save for a few standouts (none of which are better than the standouts on the last record) this album is pretty dull/samey.

Just because the followers of mx agree with you Iluvatar doesn't mean the general public agrees with you. The more i listen to this the more it seems to vary from Juturna. There seems to be a lot more diversity here, and it's not really dull but some may see it as uninteresting. Music is extremely opinionated and the fact that you don't see anything in this doesn't mean its not good.
People, give this a chance before you become swayed to believe that you don't like it before you even listen to it.

first let me just start by saying that i loved juturna, it's one of my favorite cds. this was a let down though. they haven't progressed and, like you said, are still playing pretty much the same songs that they played on juturna, but not as good. the cd isn't bad, but it's no juturna.

this album is going to be played over and over again for me. I love it. i don't know what you guys are talking about.

I have listened to some of the songs and I definitely like the drumming. In all honestly I do like Green's voice as well. All of their songs sound the same though.

When I first listened to this album, I was thinking some of the same things stated in the review. After I listened to it a good 2-3 times through, it grew on me, a lot. I would just suggest to people that really like Juturna to just give this CD a chance and listen to it a few times and see how you like it then.

Hahah dude! We musta just got confused yo, like i was just crazy like stupid yo. I thought you were too, thats my bad bro my bad.
I'd say its worthy of a "good" rating, its not average. I'm not completely indifferent towards it so i'd have to give it that extra nudge.

I agree with iamrockzorz personally i enjoyed this album and i enjoy this band! Personally, it sounds as if ILuvatar just doesn't like Circa and seems to be more of a pop fan from what i can gather.
Im not trying to dis ILuvatar because everyone loves music for there own and different reason(s) its just that after seeing his rating for the saosin album (and the Anthony and Cove comparsion) i just think he likes a bit more catchy hook based album and thats something Circa hasnt really been about from day 1!
Overall if you like bands like The Dear Hunter, As Tall As Lions, This Day Forward, Dredg then take a listen to this album! but most importantly judge this album for yourself! (Personally, I think it's the best album to come out thus far this year!) because it seems to me this review was completely anti-circa before it was even written!

i cant even agree with that, i would never call iluvatar a pop fan lol. He just really can't sit down, listen to the music circa survive has put out up till now, and actually take anything from it. I'm that way with a lot of bands, but that doesn't mean other people don't like them.
Anthony Green has definitely put out better stuff, his vocals on the first saosin ep and the first sound of animals fighting were great. This is a lot more laid back and he doesn't seem to really use his voice the way he could be.
Granted, iluvatar, you should realize that this isn't completely 'average' to everyone. A lot of people might pick up this record and really like it. Your opinion, while pretty damn well respected through the forums doesn't prove to be law.
