I find it really funny that rating Opeth less than average is being closed minded, but writing off panic! at the disco for being "another faggy scene band" isn't.

Intransit is hilarious.
They are another faggoty scene band, and I am into the indy genre, have all of their albums, and have listened to them all to many a naucious effect.
This album is incredible, thank you for the well written review.
The Apostle In Triumph is probably my 2nd favourite opeth song, and I think it is definitely one of their best too.

I think both this and Morningrise are underrated on this site, and Blackwater Park is severely overrated.

Blackwater Park is still a magnificent album though.

It is great, but I do not think it is anywhere near their best. My Arms, Your Hearse, Still Life, and Morningrise are all better.

Normally sub-par productions (although this isn't really that bad) throw me off a bit but there are moments on both Orchid and Morningrise that blow some others from Blackwater Park out of the water.

Aside from the demo included, everything here is relatively well produced anyway.

Yeah I agree, the production is perfect for the feel of the genre.
Blackwater park isn't THAT overrated, it is a classic metal release to be fair.
This and Morningrise are underrated on here though tbf.

Indeed, the production on both Morningrise and this fit the style and moods of the songs. When thinking about, I wouldn't even have it any other way. Maybe a little more low-end on the bass.

I wouldn't want too much, otherwise you would get the inevitable idiot drones confusing these albums with doom.
Ohhh that would be a bit annoying...

The Twilight Is My Robe and In Mist She Was Standing are the two outstanding tracks on this superb album. I think it is a much better album than Morningrise and one of Opeth's most underrated albums (along with Ghost Reveries). Blackwater Park is by far their best though!

I think this is one of their best. This and Watershed are hugely underrated.

Also this review is better than the main one.

yeah Akerfeldt hits a different level of growls on those

just can't rank Orchid with their other albums with it's infancy, rawness and less cohesive structures and transitions

Morningrise, however, totally engulfed me

100%. They have such a rich, rewarding and varied discography. One of the greatest bands ever.
