This band is awful. The fact that so many of you like them just proves how bad modern rock/alternative is. If a band so obviously a radiohead rip-off is accepted as original or revolutionary, i might just copywright shaving cream.

muse can sometimes write incredible lyrics, i love this album, highlights for me inclued hyper music-such a cool song, bliss, newbourn and of course plug in baby, love darkshines and also some of the lyrics in Space Dementia 'cut your name in my heart' lol im such an emo kid but i have just been dumped so yeah its a good album will not help with depression so i have stopped listening to it now

lol no even most radiohead fans know that muse is nothing like them, to me it sounds like the comment was comeing from a darkness fan :thumb:

Even if I haven't bought this one yet, from the songs I heard from this, I'd probably say this is Muse's best album. I really have a hard time getting into Absolution. Hah, I used to mosh by myself when I listen to Newborn..*sngorff*

I don't agree with your review all that much manuscript, but it was good. The one I agree with for sure is Citizen Erased though...that is easily my favourite Muse song, to me it just sums up everything about Muse. It was kickas$ live.

Don't stereotype people. I am not a typical anything. Just stating the obvious. And can Belammy try to not sound like Yorke on at least one song?
If Godsmack is an Alice in Chains tribute band, then Muse is definitely a Radiohead tribute band.

omg matt sounds lik thom!!!1111
muse = radiohead omg wtf!!!1111

Seriously, there are similarities and the influence is obviously there, but Muse do not sound anything like a Radiohead copy. Where do Radiohead have crazy guitar solos like Matt's? Where do they use classical piano arrangements? How often do they have big, fat, heavy metal sounding guitar riffs. Where do they use crazy basslines similar to Chris'? The only big similarity I can see is Thom and Matt's voices. While they are similar, they often sound very different too.

"Overdue" on Showbiz could've fit perfectly in The Bends. (Specifically between Just and My Iron Lung :p) In my mind, the big similarities really stop there, and that song's not even a true ripoff.
As for OoS, incredible album. Fun to listen to, fun to play, and fun to see live (I'd assume). Citizen Erased is quite the incredible song. Megalomania, I think, is under apprecciated by a lot of people, but the review was perfect in explaining it. It's not necessarily the greatest song alone, but when looking at the album as a whole, it is an incredible closer. OVerall, there's a good number of hard rocking songs, and more relaxed ones. What I especially like is the balance on this between being raw and being polished. (Showbiz was very raw, Abolution very polished, but this fell perfectly in between) I found Absolution rather disappointing after this release. At least a 4/5.

Good not great album a little too inconsistant, I would give it 3.5/5. Favourite songs Citizen Erased, The bass line in Hyper Music, Microcuts, Meglomania. And I must be the only muse fan who doesn't really like New Born that much. That guitar riff is pants, truely awful to my ears, I cringed when I first heard it. I think maybe since I listen to metal (Pantera etc) also my standards for riffs are different. However I still think Stockholm Syndrome, Citizen Erased, Plug In Baby, Hysteria have great riffs.

| |
That's the brilliance of that riff though, it's just so big and dumb. Many of the Muse fans on here listen to metal, myself included.
|
| |
Muse > Radiohead, in every facet. Radiohead are the most boring band in the world.

Hey man I like big dumb riffs too but that riff just sounds .. well crap to me. Just my opinion though.

Fair enough, hey, different strokes

Decent effort, but a tiresome listen as a whole. 2.5/5

Ha, I was going to put 'in my opinion' but thought it would have more of an effect if it was a statement. Every single song I have heard of theirs (which includes most of their released songs) bore the crap out of me. I'm not the emotional type. So yeah.

I forgive you.
just ;)

 I can't believe nobody's pointed out that he mixed up the drummer and bassist.

altough i thinks its a great album i havent had it as long as Showbiz and absolution so i don't think its grown on me as much,
Is it discontinued in US, i couldn't find it in ne stores and had 2 order it
|
| |
It was never released in the US full stop, I believe. Record label mess-ups and what not.
What a shame. I really think this album makes a much better first impression than Absolution.
