Yeah, I never knew I could like BM but this album totally makes me love the style. Can't wait for my copy of Anthems to arrive.

Im trying to get into black metal now, for a really long time the only BM album i ownded was STOLB by Dissection which is extremely amazing. Today, i purchased this album, "Isa" by Enslaved, and Dissection's debut album.

There are some great tracks here, but i didnt find it quite as amazing as i expected to(though i still loved it) I think this and the enslaved album will grow on me with time though.

Anthems is equally as good. But this is truly astounding because it was revolutionary as well as being gobsmackingly awesome.

Finally grew on me this album did, this is damn near a perfect rating from me, but "beyond the great vast forest" and "the majesty of the night sky" seem a bit weak to me compared to the others.

It's so hard to pic a favorite on this album, i'd say "into the infinity of thoughts," "i am the black wizards," and "inno a satana" are among them. Perhaps "cosmic keys to my creations and times" as well but every song is so damn good....

I think i prefer this album to Burzum now, and i may like it a little more than "blood fire death" as well. I need "anthems of welkin dust."

This album is fuckin awesome, I love every song. "Into The Infinity Of Thoughts" is by far the best though.

I bought this when it first came out and loved it... I bought it again when it was remastered and re-released a few years back (maybe not that long ago), and this is one album that really benefited from being remastered.

I also have the remastered version and it took me a while to really enjoy this album. I would have hated to listen to this when it was first pressed.

So this is probably the only BM album that I find scary and discomforting to listen to.

Yes, that is indeed what I meant. All other black metal tends to be just noisy, or ultra headbangable.

I wish Emperor would decide to make another record. Not like their newest ones though. They need to make another one like this and Anthems.

Theres nothing really wrong with it. Just not as good as the first two albums.

but there's a bunch of black metal like their first two, granted Emperor are superior, but still there's no other record like Prometheus, and besides they're never going to write another record together because Samoth and Ihsahn have creative differences

There's plenty of albums like Prometheus, which is to say, there are plenty of goofy "avant-garde" collections of random chord progressions with no structure or binding expression. Plenty of music that sucks.

There's very little black metal like their first two, which is to say, there's very little black metal that is excellent. Being "different" is not the same as being good. It's also a sham, since there haven't really been any new musical methods since the 1800's, except POSSIBLY with some of the IDM and noise acts.
Yes, that is indeed what I meant. All other black metal tends to be just noisy, or ultra headbangable.
The fact you're saying this makes it obvious you're mostly paying attention to production and cool-factor, and aren't really listening to the music as-it-is(i.e., where each note is placed in relation to every other note).
