Once again, Iluvatar is wrong.
Hot Cross and Off Minor are both better than Saetia because Saetia reeks of teenage pretentious where as Off Minor and Hot Cross are matured reflections of the feelings present in those bands.
Also Saetia didn't start a new wave of emo. They're impact is completely minimal because they hardly existed for four years.

Don't know why I haven't weighed in yet. I got this in 2004 and was immediately impressed by the first track. The album loses steam a little bit for me at the end, but it's short and sweet overall. I love the use of muted guitar notes in an aggressive fashion.

He's ridiculously correct on this one though.

Saetia was a perfection
Saetia pretty much created an entire new wave of emo
As a rule, I find bands that create genres or start trends usually end up being worse than the bands that refine the new ideas, all before imitators send it all the hell.
The classical example is Ramones - The Clash - everything else. People look to the Ramones as being an important early punk band though that is debatable and they also suck. The Clash are awesome but not straight punk as they refined ideas that were created by proto-punk bands, and tons of bands since have ruined that style.
Another example could be Grade - Thursday/Thrice - a whole lot of crappy Victory record bands.
My Saetia example holds for me at least: Saetia - Hot Cross/Off Minor - IWASMOFFY

Point is Saetia isn't even an innovator. You can't have "innovators" in a scene that isn't like anything ever made. Late '90s emo was entirely sparse in terms of a mecca or focal point. The bands were all over the place. So, no one band can be responsible for having a choke hold on the impact.
Plenty of bands had done the pretty to chaos thing before.

way to go 711, reading the fine print
Just shut up.
Alright lets stop arguing. It doesnt matter, really. This album rules.

I don't know about this one. Clearly Saetia created a style that has been imitated now for years, does that make them pioneers of a new style? I don't know. Besides, I think Anasarca did Saetia's sound first.

I Hot Cross and Of Minor might've been more mature than Saetia (for sure actually), but out of all of them I like Saetia the best. But Orchid is probably the best out of all. Just my opinion. Good review great album. This Message Edited On 06.12.07

Hey so I'm seeing this band at the fest in October, along with Ampere, Comadre, Colisium, CTTS, 108, and a bunch of other hardcore/emo goodness.
Oh, and Ampere/Daitro/Daniel Striped Tiger next weekend at some dudes house. I am really excited.
