A lot of shitty numetal like (some) Korn is worse than this, but they dont get the awful criticism that this does because theyre not Metallica. Not saying this doesnt deserve harsh criticism, but this is far from my least favorite albums.

Easily better than Korn.
And my Grateful Dead analogy was not not well thought out, although I think they would had heart attacks if they tried listening to or playing metal! Love the Dead, don't get me wrong.
All we can do is hope that Rick Rubin can salvage the band. New album in the fall.

I'd say it's good for a first review... even though you swear like a sailor. But that just cements the fact that you hate this album, so in this case, at least, it works. Yeah, this album, as everyone knows, is one that most should and already do avoid. For very good reasons. (They've all have been stated already, so I won't beat a dead horse here.)

Wow... I just listened to the album version of "Some Kind of Monster" and then listened to the edited/improved version of the homonimous ep on youtube and it is A LOT better.

Yeah, what they did to the SKOM remix is what they should have done to the WHOLE album, and that is trim the fat off of it. And better production. Hell I could go on about it, but I won't because everybody pretty much agrees on what's wrong with this album.
I hope the next album will be great, I really do. I've been listening for many years. But myself and many other fans after sticking by them all this time will not stand for another $hit album.

Funny review, but it isn't hard at all to deny that Kirk Hammett is "hugely talented" because, frankly, he sucks. He's in no way above average and for 'the world's biggest metal band' so to speak... he's piss... Mustaine kicks the shite out of him and Hetfield is a better guitar player than Kirk.

After years of putting it off, I finally gave this album a listen. I'd rather be raped with a rusty eggbeater than to ever have to suffer through it again.
Still, if the songs were 2-3 minutes shorter it would've been a huge improvement, but that's like comparing full blown AIDS and stage 4 Lung Cancer.
