Oh, Conor, what happened?
This CD isn't great. Half the songs are over-slick, bloated and boring and the other half are average-at-best alt country. I think he should go back to the off-kilter, lo-fi indie rock that made everyone originally fall in love with him. It bothers me that this is what it's all culminated too. Disappointment of the year tbh.

I can't say I am a fan of bright eyes, though I know a few people who are. I think that it was important to note that their lyrics in this album could sometime be cliche. Even still, if their music is good and they can make up for the mediocre writing then it should be worth the ride. Nice review.

i really like the fact that his music is noticeably happier. even though his past albums like IWAIM, and F&M were quite depressing (but good), i like to see that he's moving in a different direction.

Hah you didn't like my two favorite tracks. But Soul Singer is a great song.
Personally I'm more of a I'm Wide Awake It's Morning guy, but Cassadaga has some of the best songs he's done. Good review.

bright eyes is far from over-rated. Connor is an amazing player and writer. His stuff is easy to connect to which makes him very popular. Not over-rated. I think Im Wide Awake, Its Morning is 10x better than this album. But The Cleanse Song is a must listen.
