Why would I want to do that?

Well, your charts are 11% emo, so naming 'real' emo bands is irrelevant since he's right in that sense anyways.

If you want good, original, nonmainstream emo, check out City Of Catapillar, otherwise shut up about the emo argument.

I personally think Geoff Tate is better the Bruce Dickenson.

I do have to "lol" at HereticX's pie charts though.

Did any of this stupid argument matter at all, by the by?

Haha, yup, they are LOLworthy indeed man, Id be the first to say that. I just went through and rated my most favourite stuff (lol, not even all of it) one night, I never thought it would be used against me.. :D

Rest assured though, my charts here are not even remotely close to my describing my actual tastes..

The argument was stupid IMO. But good fun nonetheless.

Just because his chart shows that his tastes are more specific doesn't mean he's ignorant about the album at hand, in fact, it would more or less emphasize that he at least has somewhat of a clue about what he's talking about. But his arguments weren't very well handled.

I think Geoff Tate's voice is as good as Bruce Dickinson's, especially in his early works. I compared the two of them a lot in my review on the greatest hits.

Tate's and Dickinson's voices are completely different. Both equally great -and influential ;)- Tate is the epitome of vocal control, perfect technique, and unbelievable charisma. Dickinson on the other hand is able to deliver an awesome performance through sheer lung power.

Quite a lot of quarreling, this review has caused ...

I think that what's good about this album is not the music, but the story and the way it is told. I never listen to one specific song, but to the whole album at once, because the individual songs don't have much meaning left, when the context of the album is gone. So I think my song ratings are quite right ... and when you take the song ratings alone, the overall rating would be 3 or 3.5, it's because of the story that I gave it 4 points.

Yes, this album is highly influentual, but that doesn't mean it's a masterpiece. It was something completely new when released, but that doesn't mean it can't be surpassed.

To give you a strong example, I don't like Elvis, but I know that without him, none of the music I enjoy listening to would exist.

I don't think this has anything to do with the color of their skin

He was inspiring to a lot of crackers but his music wasn't too original.

I wanted to listen to it because Dio rules but yeah, the general consensus told me to avoid.

They recently did a show here where they played Mindcrime and Mindcrime 2 entirely, it might have been cool to see.

Mindcrime 2 has some good stand outs, mainly The Hands and Rearrange You, other then that it's a piece of crap. The original Mindcrime pwns all Queensryche. I think Empire was agreat album as well though.

This album used to be a huge favourite of mine, but then all those solos really started to grind...and the pretty similar song structure as well.

Can't deny how impressive it can be at times though.

So, i've just edited the review a little (I'm right now editing all my reviews, before I start writing new ones), and though I've changed my mind a little about some of the songs (giving them better ratings), it's overall still a 4/5. though now the ratings of the songs are better, the biggest problem is still the similar strong structures.

but actually the rating has changed from a 4/5 I was not too happy with to quite a good 4/5. but I don't think it will get any higher ^^.This Message Edited On 01.25.08

The review looks better. I gave this a listen today, this is one of the few albums where the lyrics/concept blow me away each time I listen to a song.

I agree. I'm blown away every time I listen to this. Without a doubt a 5, and my favorite album of the 80s. I prefer this to MoP and Powerslave.
