True. A very few bands including Rush never lost their way. Not sure why.
My guess is that Rush appeals to a large audience. Jazz rock genre survived quite well to the 80's too. Probably because it's an hybrid genre with once again an hybrid audience. And then, soon was born the neo-prog. So prog rock never really died.
