great review, and an awesome album!! i really liked the first 8 tracks on this album, but i didn't really dig the last 2 tracks (Lord of Light & The Legacy). i really liked Out of the Shadows, i think bruce really expressed his vocal range in this song; however, i think my personal favorite off this album is these colours don't run.

i still dont know which album i'd say is better between Dance of Death, or this one, though

This is way better than Dance of Death. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns is a beast of a song.

Paschendale is beastier than Brighter Than a Thousand Sunds. DOD was an ace album though, it just had a few songs that I grew off of immediately (Rainmaker, Wildest Dreams, Gates of Tomorrow).

Paschendale is better than pretty much every Iron Maiden song. :p

I disagree. Paschendale is good, but it's NOT better than Hallowed Be Thy Name, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, The Trooper, The Nomad, or any of their other old stuff. It's one of the best tracks they've put out since 2000 though.

im sorry, but how can you call yourself a maiden fan if you dont like their epics, hallowed be thy name, fear of the dark etc. they are the reason why maiden rule the world. but i do agree with you on rime of the ancient mariner though, it opens brilliantly, but that clean middle part is horrible and drags on for ages, puts me off listening to it.

I do like them. You're already the second to misread that sentence. I admit it's worded a little awkwardly.

hallowed be thy name is my favourite maiden song everThis Message Edited On 04.04.07

i think this is a good cd but most of the songs are very similar sounding. First of all, they almost all start off slow and then end slow, not to mention they are all dragged out 3 minutes longer than they need to be. And secondly, almost every song is in the same key. But, there are still some pretty awesome songs.

I thought this album was great! Lord of Light and the Legacy are two killer tunes. Not as good as Danceo f Death or Brave New World, though.

i saw maiden last year, when they played every single song from this album, with the whole war-sandbags-tanks-propaganda-themed-set thing..
i must say, i wasn't really impressed.
the album isn't bad.. but i don't like it

this album sounds crap and messy at first, but once it grows on you it starts sounding awesome. It's hard, epic and long. Give it the time it needs. This Message Edited On 08.09.07
