I'd agree with Genesis being over rated, But ELP deffinetly aren't. This album pretty much defined prog rock....well, that and Yes' Fragile.
Just because they don't have screaming guitar solos doesn't make them bad, (but if you look into the band, you'd find that Hendrix was rumored to have been about to join ELP...thus turning it into HELP. If he thought they were good...along with the guy who originally composed Toccata...there must be something there)
Prog rock is more for listening. If you have actually studied music, and I mean actual classes...not just listening, then you would be able to identify how much is actually going on. ELP was a band of actual musicians...not just prety boys who asthetically appeal to the masses. They, and other prog-rockers, brought classical musical elements back into popular music and evolved rock just enough to make way for other bands like Nine Inch Nails, (listen to the synthesizer at the end of Karn Evil 9 to hear what I mean), and Tool...
Just because they are better musicians and know more about music doesn't make them pretentious. Would you call Mozart pretentious...?

That would definatly sound interesting but I can imagine them fitting together to make ELP heavier.

listenin to this right now and i think i like it more than in the court of crimson king.
ELP and Genesis are the two most overrated prog bands ever. This is pretty much intensely boring.
Genesis is kinda boring but this album kicks ass
