Wind it up is seriously one of the worst songs I've ever heard...Hollowback Girl sounds amazing compared to Wind It Up.

Being a Gwen Stefani fan, let's say it's my duty to deny some facts here!
How can you say Gwen is copying Fergie? Fergie began her solo career recently while Gwen started being solo in 2004...
Since 2004, 4 japanese girls (the Harajuku girls) appear in Gwen's video clips (What you waiting for, Hollaback girl...)
Now if you look at Fergie's London Bridge, you can see 2 japanese girls jumping in front of a car... In Gwen's Luxurious video clip (which is really bad, btw), she lays down on millions of sweets. Now look at Fergie's Fergalicious, which is really a copy of Luxurious. Personnally, I don't really like Fergie, the only thing she can do is sing "lalalala", which she was doing perfectly with the Black Eyed Peas. Fergalicious is the only song "acceptable", thanks to Will.I.Am.
And Gwen copying Beyonce...I think she's on top of her, but this is after all personnal. As personnal as you saying Wind It Up is random bullshit. I'm not completely convinced by the clip, though I think the idea is original and the vid quite surprising. I prefer to look at this than looking at...beyonce's vid clips, where women usually appear as sexual objects for men.
Now I must admit that The Sweet Escape is really not a extraordinary album, and a few songs only are memorable. I agree with you on Orange County Girl: the music is really bad, the lyrics are maybe the only interesting thing in this song. I think I'm not the only one to regret No Doubt (Ah! Good old times!)
[ Sorry if its bad written, I'm not English! But you understand my point! ]

beyonce's vid clips, where women usually appear as sexual objects for men. Yeah boi. That's how she gets a lot of her attention.
And Gwen copying Beyonce...I think she's on top of her If only.
Since 2004, 4 japanese girls (the Harajuku girls) appear in Gwen's video clips (What you waiting for, Hollaback girl...) Could you please explain to me why? Like, no offence or anything, I'm just curious.
How can you say Gwen is copying Fergie? I guess it's because Gwen's style has changed recently.
You're english is actually really good, write a review sometime!

I'm not even giving this album a rating. Gwen Stefani rates way below zero in my book.

Women are objects for men....*
Anyways, just because one came out first doesnt mean the "original" can't borrow from the "copy". It just makes it harder to prove.

I don't really know about the Harajuku girls...for me they're just 4 dolls covered with make-up who are not allowed to speak... I guess Gwen picked them because she loves fashion and Harajuku is a famous fashion place in Japan?!
Yeah Gwen's style has changed but Fergie...For me she's nothing without the Black Eyed Peas!
And Beyonce...I thought her last clip (or maybe not her last?!can't remember the title!) was a remake of L'Oréal's ads...
Anyway, thnx for your answer! I guess we just don't like the same music! though, did you like ND?

And I'll stay away.mtv and vh1 are a disgrace.

did you like ND? They were alright. Gwen Stefani's first album was better than this. What You Waiting For got stuck in my head for days.

Eh I'm kinda new to reviewing myself.. but I do feel there's something missing here, some actual description of the songs. Mostly you compared them to other artists, but what if I haven't heard them..?
No offense, but I did not get a good view of what she sounds like other than a mix of a lot of different artists, which would supposedly make for a varied album (which is something positive?)
But yeah, you did say it was just a quick comment and should be taken as such, just if there would have been a little more description I think it would have made for a more complete review.

No you're absolutely spot on, I gave way to in-depth analysis in favour of brevity. This review isn't really helpful to people unfamiliar with her music nor is it helpful in instigating discussion for people who have this album. I could probably edit in better descriptions etc. but it might be best for a few other people to review it, then people can get a general picture from our overlapping or clashing viewpoints.
Also varied album is only a positive if the variety is purposeful and beneficial to the direction of the album; otherwise it's just a collection of songs on shuffle.

Isnt this quite a fast release since the last one? Maybe thats why it apparently is fairly poor?

Her first came out in 2004, two years is generally the margin between a popular artists albums.

Yeah it's pretty much exactly on schedule for a major pop artist.

I think I'm the only one that actually likes this album.
