i was talking to one of my old teachers who I ran into, and he thinks that this is the best Portishead record. I know this album gets a lot of shit, but I think I'm gonna check this out.

Honestly, i don't get why so many people consider Dummy to be much better than this. Some days i like Dummy better, some days i like this better, but i'd say both are around the same level of quality.

'Humming' was actually the song that introduced me to the band, and i've never stopped listening to all three of their albums ever since. To be honest, I find their first two albums to be equally as good as each other, which is difficult, because I can never work out which one is my favourite. Anyway, their self-titled is full of different moods and feelings to keep the listener occupied, even if it does stroll along slowly. I guess this is one of those albums you should listen to without disturbances of any kind. Good review.
