i feel that should go for All Shall Fall

i haven't listened to that yet, but strangely enough for me Immortal only ever make excellent or shit albums, they can never seem to make one which is just 'good' imo

I think this album gets short shrift for some reason. Yeah, it's a bit different, then Pure Holocaust, but it is excellent. Beasts is a bit stange and it's hard to quantize but i bet many people never really listened to it much and except conventional wisdom, which is always bad in Metal.



(excuse me, except where St. Anger, Kirk Hammett or Lars is concerned. That is positively accurate. They suck.)

I think the thing that gets overlooked is that a majority of the riffs on Blizzard Beasts are death metal riffs. If you had no idea that this was Immortal, and threw it into a pile of death metal discs and listened to them all, you would not really be able to tell that this is a black metal album, except for the vocals perhaps. This is not a bad thing though. I think it works really well here. It works better than some of the death metal roots they incorporate on later albums.
