If they could just tighten the screws, really make some great stuff(which they are talented enough to do) and just be more unique they could bring it back. Bring what you ask? Good rock.

The lack of compelling guitar work really makes this nothing special, which is a shame because if he would have just put as "where eagles have been" this could have been great. This Message Edited On 03.31.07This Message Edited On 03.31.07

Really, really good review there. I agree with a lot of this, especially the hate for Apple Tree. That's pretty much the only thing i don't like on the album, Stockdale's voice on that track is.. ghastly.
However, no point focusing on the negatives. Wolfmother is one of my favourite rock bands out there right now and i still can't get over some of these songs. "Tales", "White Unicorn", "Witchcraft". I don't actually see the comparisons to Zeppelin or Sabbath but then again, i don't listen to them much and from what i do, they aren't that appealing to me anyway. Wolfmother on the other hand is exciting, catchy and it feels fresh instead of tired like some perhaps.. 'copycat' bands sound like. I'm definetely happy i went out a bought this.

Great review of a great album.
Sure, we've "heard it all before", but isn't most everything on popular radio these days derivitive??
It's nice to hear new rock with Sabbath and Zepp influences (and done correctly) then another third rate Nirvana/Bizkit/Nickelback clone on mainstream rock radio...

And people call The Mars Volta pretentious.

The two most used words of the album:
"Oooooohhhhh Yyyyeeeeeaaaaahhhhh" and Gaarl" (Girl)
Brilliant at times, but they copy too much to call them and awesome band, but this is a great album.

good review dude. i did like this album when i bought it, but fuck me didn't the radio slaughter it?? pyramid and dimension are me 2 faves off this one but i'm still yet to see why the joker and the thief is so good, 3 years after i first heard it.

It needs to exploit, the retro sounds like Black Sabbath are short of expectancy. A good try I think.

This album is so much more than just its first single. Everything on there is on the same level as 'Woman'. Just a great, all around Hard Rock record. If you like this material, you'd most likely dig what's on Witchcraft's The Alchemist. That's a band that deserves the same success.

Wolfmother Phase II begins this weekend with a secret show at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney under the name White Feather.
I'm excited.
