I was mostly serious - when I wrote the review anyway. I'm not gonna lie, I did write this partly as an exercise, because its such a highly revered album I knew I had to make this review really damn good (I think I did and I'm proud of that), but I honestly didn't think this album was all that great. That's changed a bit now.

If I was a bit harsh towards you its because I don't take kindly to comments that don't strike me as very constructive. Also, I came up with that S'hit stirring line in the shower and figured I had to use it because it was awesome. =D

Nah, didn't mean it as an insult though I now see how that would be taken as one (was more just the whole Colbert referring to Reily as papa bear)...
Anyways...never listened to this but I'm going to assume its worthwhile...judging from the other review this sounds like my kind of thing...

For the most part, I agree with this review. Certainly not a bad album, but it's absurdly overrated. The songs don't have much lifespan after hearing the album 10 or 15 times. It all becomes bland.

this album was huge and epic and overblown and pretentious yes, but in all the good ways. after this record... well not so much, they blow now but...and like others have said, i think too much focus was put on what happened after this album was released than the actual album itself, which was amazing.
