I sound like an arse because some people won't give credit where credit is due....

Right.

Upon hearing "The Sowing Season (Yeah)", my hopes were up quite a lot, but there's always been one thing about Brand New that bugs me, I mean most punk bands do their fast paced stuff and a slow song as a bonus, but Brand New seem to be the other way round and it can get quite tedious with all this slow, quiet acoustic stuff around, but when Brand New do belt out a heavy punk song, it can usually be worth the wait.

I'm pretty disappointed in this album. I was on the fence before but this album drags way too much. Brand New has always been my reason why maturity in a band isn't always a good thing.

Actually, I think in the case of Brand New, maturity is way more of a benefit to the band's sound.

They sounded hella gay before.

Millstone is fucking amazing. I think this should get a 4.5 or 5. Yeah and You Won't Know are up there as well. This is a pretty shitty review anyway, sounds like a 5th grader with all of the run on sentences and so forth. Plus, you gave it a 5 yet mentioned faults. A little contradictory there, Sherlock....

I hate when people like you downtime9110 point out flaws in grammer when you are writing with worst grammer than I am. Think about that....

Definitely a great progression from the previous albums... the last 3-4 songs falter, though.

I started listening to this. It's good, but not a five and Sowing Season is the best track far and away, so far at least.

Wow, Brand New sure is a one-trick pony with their slow acoustic beginning that progresses into a harder sound style. I like the album alot, but I have to believe that evolution in a band should also come in song structure, not just instrumentation.

I hate when people don't realize that a 5 means it's a classic and NOT perfect. If you don't point out the flaws of the album in a review, people won't take it seriously, because it isn't objective at all that way.

The maturity that they showed with this album makes up for any imperfections. Deja had everything lyrically, but it lacked mature musicianship. This album shows that BN is evolving. Granted, it's probably not a 5, but it forecasts great things to come.

Good review but in no way a classic. This album was a big letdown.

it's a bit sad of me to review your review and i don't mean to sound like a teacher/prick, but while the enthusiasm is infectious, a lot of reviews on the site in general seem to be a bit repetitive and far too long. Better than anyhting I'd have the patience to write, but isn't the purpose of a good review to give a short and snappy summary?.. so that you give the reader an overall feel for an album without risking losing their interest? Can't fault the enthusiasm and attention to detail though! This Message Edited On 11.23.06

Good review.....I wouldn't say this CD is a classic. But it deserves a good deal of a recognition.

If that's what you want, look at sound offs.

Very good album, but I still think Brand New is heavily overrated and people need to get off their nutz. They're not terribly original in any way, shape or form, and people act like they're the Second Coming or something. Not The Sun is insanely catchy, though, and the songwriting in general is way improved from Deja Entendu. 3.5/5

It is an awesome album, I love how they went to a completely different level with there music. It's his life, from YFW to this, beautiful.
