Mikael has always referenced old prog bands in his lyrics. even Blackwater Park is actually a name of some obscure old german prog band iirc.

Once I was wearing a Blackwater Park shirt at a store, and the woman in front of me pointed to my shirt and said, "Where's that?" and I was like, I'm sorry?, and she was like, "that black water park, where's that?" and I was like.. ohhh...

Chances are that this album's name is derived from the album of the same name by Van der Graaf Generator (Akerfeldt once mentioned that they are the most underrated prog band ever, I think), not to speak of the track Goblin which is even named after the band it pays homage to. On one live dvd he jokes about Ending Credits (from Damnation) being a "total Camel rip-off", etc. But even though there are many references, they never dominate the music or hinder its atmosphere and are really tastefully done in most of the cases. I don't mind them at all

I've not even heard 5 of their albums & it's pretty damn hard. This is no.1 so far.

'Which ones did you skip Sunlight?'

I don't plan on skipping any. I'm still yet to hear the first 3 (stupid Amazon keep delaying my order) & their last 2 which can wait (for now).

Glad to be of service, hopefully it'll conjure up some good memories for you. I'm trying not to speed through the discography too hastily but it's difficult. Listened to this, Blackwater & GR by far the most thus far.
