A Moment Suspended in Time: Best UO Song. I have made it official. Returning Empty Handed second best on this album.

This album and the one right after felt like progressions in their sound. The stuff after these two albums felt like a boring regression imo. Their sound seemed to be going in a more long song format type direction and atmospheric. Then they ditched it for straight up heavy stuff, which was decent but mundane, and then straight up simple stuff with their latest release. It'd had been great if they'd put out an album after 2008 which was another progression in sound.
There'es something about this album and ''Lost in the Sound of Separation'' that has a atmospheric quality. Some of the songs seem to be the most mature they've written. Like I said, I believe they regressed lyrically and musically after 2008's LITSOS. Also I think their production got more claustrophobic and less expansive. Event he short poppier songs on these albums have space in the mix.

It had claustrophobic production, no atmosphere to be found compared to this and LITSOS, and the direction they were going in was ''We're a really heavy band, guys'' which is the most boring part of this band for me.

Agreed. Disambig has some great tracks and is a solid album, but it was definitely a step down imo.

"It had claustrophobic production" [2]
This is really noticable in the drum production. Compare the drums on this and Disambiguation and the difference is night and day.
Drums also sound a little sterile on Low Teens by Every Time I Die, which also has Davison, compared to their previous album.

This and Disambiguation are clearly their best records, I would give the edge to Disambiguation probably because the drumming is noticeably better.
Also because I prefer Spencer's cleans over Aaron's. Shame Disambiguation was a one-off lineup really.
And a fun fact: the artist for this album, Chandler Owen, also did the art for Hopesfall's TSY and Magnetic North.
