there's a few too many lower tier songs on boxer for me to consider it a 5, also never been the biggest fan of apartment story despite many others' love for it

lol ok I was just kinda matching the vibe of that page of that thread but w/e
I can write a whole dissertation on why this is my favourite/preferred over Boxer if you like, I'm certainly willing, but "a few lower-tier songs on Boxer" is a good summation of a major point
|

Every song on Boxer is achingly perfect : (
But I mean same w this too

put another way, most of the best songs on boxer have vibes resembling this (mistaken for strangers, slow show, guest room, brainy, start a war, etc)

A Tik Tok boi on a Tik Tok page! Hit up my desk with that diss by tomorrow morn plz, sir
Lower tier tracks is a moot argument when this album has more of them than Boxer, and Boxer's brick all over the likes of Val Jester and Looking For Astronauts.
Most of the best songs on Boxer resembling this is a dumb argument because most of them demonstrate obvious sense of refinement in dynamics and string arrangement, and this is not retroactively applicable

Val Jester is incredible lol
Squalor and Gospel are weaker than anything on this, and some of their weakest pre-TFWM songs tbh. good live maybe but the Boxer versions are flat and kinda dull

whomst will join me on the train that out of the Holy Trinity (A/B/HV), alligator and boxer are largely perfect (though this is my fave) and high violet is largely The National Sparknotes Version
|
| |
Okay lol if you're bashing Gospel and calling Squalor flat I'm not gonna pretend to take this seriously
+ the real train and the real trilogy = Boxer/HV/TWFM. this is a great warm-up act

can't wait to be 96 and be mad on line about 'i am easy to find' being the best national album

Any opinion on the national is correct as long as the last three aren't in your top three.

"+ the real train and the real trilogy = Boxer/HV/TWFM. this is a great warm-up act"
Most accurate thing I've read all day. This is fantastic but a tad patchy. Some less interesting moments ("Daughters....") and one clunker ("Baby We'll Be Fine").

uh Daughters is a perfect song wtf are you on
|

Yeah Daughters is one of the 4-5 songs that matter here
|
| |
and sorry but 'Baby, We'll Be Fine' is not at all a clunker. great track.
