Comparing human psychology to natural symmetry is a dead end, trust me.
At least it's way more complicated than more symmetry=more good.

But golden ratio is not symmetry?
Even flowers have a golden ratio structure because that's how they absorb the most light. I mean, it's also only logical that there are certain structures that are elementary for the universe on all levels, just like everything is made of atoms, everything is energy because all forms of matter are energy, etc, etc. And it's also only logical that the evolution of human aesthetic perception would be guided by those structures, since they are so elementary.
Is the title track on this, by any chance, the golden ratio of its runtime? Would be cool, but I think Ticks and Leeches is closer.
Edit: Just checked and yes, Lateralus is the golden ratio, to be exact the build-up ("makes me a humaaan").

"this same conversation has happened 750 times in these lateralus threads, please shut up about it alright"
I brought it up because Maynard made that comment about it 'being too on the nose' on his recent Rogan feature. Figured maybe it'd change the convo up a bit

Dunno bout better but we seem to have sustained a general standard of attractiveness as well as other traits. Ya gotta be a certain degree of ugly with no other redemptive traits to stop you from passing on your genetics.

As in the ability to succeed? why not? If they are not at all responsible for achieving their wealth it is a bit sad.

I suppose it may do to some, although it's quite a depressing thought that certain people think like that.
Success means different things depending on who you ask, a man could have literally no material possessions, job or family, but maybe success to him is happiness & fulfilment & if he's achieved that (whatever that entails) I'd say his life has been successful.

yea if you can make enough to live comfortably that's fine, but as you get older you start to realise that making shitloads of money isn't the be all end all, there are many more things that take more importance

I’m only 24 and even I know that if I ever ended up making millions off what I love, my anxiety and chronic pain would still be there. It would bring me comfort yes, but comfort doesn’t automatically equal happiness. I’d love to publish a book that millions of people read and loved for instance, but in the end I’d still have to end up working on myself. That’s where I stand on the issue.
