Yeah that track definitely stood out too back then. I didn’t feel like it was a Meshuggah track at first because of how thrashy and death metal it was compared to the few records before. The snare was brutal, the grooves were fast and punishing, and Tomas of course made the whole thing feel like them by having the beat come weird. Only to hint at stuff like The Hurt later on.
