I can ignore the chorus on Hexagram and it's grown on me anyway and Chino is fucking legendary on that song, it's become my favorite vocal performance of his

Every one of their openers is probably a top 2 or 3 song on its respective album.

Hm, Hexagram might honestly be my favorite Deftones opener.

The melodies, the riffs, and the atmosphere are all fucking amazing.

As much as I love this band, I haven't really been floored by too many of their closers.

Gotta disagree there. "Pink Maggit" might be my favorite Deftones track, "Riviere" is Top 10, and "This Place Is Death" and "What Happened to You?" rule as well.

Pink Maggit > Riviere > What Happened to You? > This Place Is Death > Damone > Fist > Moana

...come to think of it, "Moana" is their only closer I'd rate lower than a 4

I absolutely love What Happened To You?, This Place is Death, and Riviere, but the rest don't really stick out to me as much. I like Pink Maggit, but I don't understand the insane amount of acclaim it gets, especially around sputnik. I guess I'm missing something there.

I agree with that but I think it's mostly because their albums are so solid throughout and for me their best songs are tracks like Cherry Waves, Beauty School and Entombed which would be bad as closers. If the whole album is a solid 4-5 then the closers just aren't going to impact that much imo

What Happened To You? is such a beautiful track, tbh.

When Chino says: "The sky is falling down" my heart explodes, my tears river down, and my girl juices just go wild.

Got my tickets to see them in Baltimore this August, and apparently I'm getting a physical copy of Gore shipped with my tickets.
