Let's argue: Val Jester is the 3rd best song here and easily the most underappreciated song in the National discog

The top 3 here are the final 3, every other song here is in a perpetual state of being tied for 4th

I mostly agree with that, but Friend Of Mine has always been one of my favorites, and I might put Daughters of the Soho Riots higher as well

Yeah, I know it's not the most popular pick, but it was one of the first The National tracks I fell in love with, and I'd probably put it in my top 10 of their tunes

It has some fairly simple but very powerful lyrics. The desperation in them is really sad. “I got two sets of headphones, I miss you like hell”

I don't know if I despise or absolutely love the idea of referring to The National as Natty

"The top 3 here are the final 3"

I actually don't really mind this take, I'd even expand it a little bit because after Friend of Mine this goes from a great album to the greatest album ever written

After a billion listens I'd say I look forward to the Astronauts to Friend of Mine run the most.

Astronauts and Friend of Mine are my least favs but they're still good. Shows how fantastic this album is overall.
