"This is one of those albums where I think people like the "idea" of the music, rather than the music itself. If that makes sense. Idk I love their other stuff, so maybe this'll grow on me."

Nah this just actually rules

Man watching drum playthroughs of Jaime playing Ulcerate songs continuously makes wonder how this guy is self-taught... I mean he's just such an unstoppable force behind the kit and this record affirms this.

I have an idea that the music is good.

Also yeah, there's a ~15 minute Youtube video entitled "ULCERATE - Jamie Saint Merat - 'Shrines of Paralysis' Drum Tracking". Mindblowing. I find myself wondering if the vid clips over to x1.25 speed sometimes.

I find this the hardest ulcerate album to sit through the full thing. I think cause the whole thing seems like it's the same middish tempo? I wish there were like one or two bursts of pure ferocity

I think the burst-y banger here is exhale the ash @ anthracks.

Yeah it's a superb album, but you're not wrong. If I had a single qualm with it, that's what it is, even with exhale the ash.

yeah and unfortunately that's track 2 so there isn't really a deviation in tempo after that point other than to go slower ha

There is No Horizon and Inversion definitely pick up the pace relative to the tracks either side of them
