this album rules incredibly hard and is the main reason i'm stoked for Gore. i mean, the two tracks they released were good and all but if they're the two best on the album it won't be close to KNY...

Prayers/Triangles was a great song but not among their best openers, the other one was decent. I'm hoping the deep tracks will impress as they have on this, DE, and SNW.

"Prayers/Triangles was a great song but not among their best openers"

Maybe not stand-alone, but it could work as a scene-setter in the context of the album. Even then, as much as I love Deftones, the only songs I'd consider truly great openers are My Own Summer and Hole in the Earth

I think all openers are pretty strong. Bored, My Own Summer, Feiticiera, Hexagram, Hole in the Earth, Diamond Eyes, and Swerve City all did great as openers.

I really like P/T, and we can't judge it as an opener yet, since we haven't heard the album yet.

Yeah Deftones' have done consistently well with openers but P/T might be the weakest one yet.

of course, the proficiency of the opener depends on how it sets the stage for the album. p/t might do an excellent job. we just don't know yet. i agree it's the weakest of the 7 other songs we have (though i probably like it more than bored). we just can't judge it as an opener yet since we don't know what it opens.

Feiticiera>My Own Summer>Hole in the Earth>Hexagram>Swerve City>Diamond Eyes=Prayers/Triangles>Bored as songs. Though I think Hexagram's a better opener than Hole in the Earth

Hexagram is one of their weakest openers, Hole in the Earth and Diamond Eyes are clearly the best.
