the absolute buzz of Geezers bass combined with how he just blasts them strings also helps a lot

Feel like people don't mention Geezer enough when they talk about great bass players

I feel like I’ve subconsciously been telling myself that this is not quite as good as their early 80’s material because of Ozzy’s vocals, yet it’s one of the only Sabbath records that I often listen to all the way through so I might bump my rating

Solid riffs, some of my favorites from Iommi. The album, as a whole, is either between 3.5-4.

Man, the outro on Into The Void when the trio just let's it all rip... jawdropping.

The chromatic bluesy riff at the end of Into the Void is still one of the best moments in Sabbath's entire discog

Amazing moment agreed. Wish I dug the Dip era nearly as much as I do the Ozzy era

"Why has stoner never sounded quite as good as this?"
inadequate drummers, even Tony sounds way better with Bill Ward

Album Rating: 5.0
aye, could be on to something, Bill has a way with dynamics in a way a lot of modern drummers (who have been brickwalled to all hell anyway) don't have.

it's the jazz influences, the swing & the sense of rhythm that Bill brings to the table that makes it sound more appealing
