Every album is great. But Stephen Carpenter didn't really have a lot of control over this one. However, it is a very good release. showcases a lot of creativity and experimentation which the band have in unlimited supply.

There is something *wrong* with this record and I can't place it no matter how many times I listen
It just doesn't feel like Deftones at times, but not in a "this is a bold new direction" kind of way, in a "this music has no sense of identity" kind of way
The production is definitely part of it, it never lets the songs soar like they want to, but I feel like there's something else

It’s not bad but it’s def one of their weakest records. Definitely gets unfairly hated on imo. Hearts Wires and Phantom Bride are awesome. Also Prayers/Triangles, Acid Hologram, L(MIRL).
