Yeah it does need better quality but I’m kinda insanely addicted to the vinyl rip and it’s a 5 so it can only be better from there. Electronics are just unreal. So engrossing.

Man I hate System. Sounds like the intro to a CSI spin off.

Sounds like Dispatch to me and I don’t see who doesn’t like Dispatch, but to me it is one of the weaker tracks on the album

There are good songs for sure - especially Carin, i just think it sounds especially restrained and homogenous for them. Maybe repeat plays will reveal more, but for now i think this is far better

I do get the sneaky feeling this album will remain my personal favourite National album

Does this album still make your all time top 5, what with the many 5s you've added since joining the site?

I honestly think The Tindersticks are better now. Mental.

Tindersticks do repeat themselves a bit more than The National and Lambchop...but they also have a certain sophistication (esp to the lyrics) that perhaps add an extra level of depth.

Three of the best basically, hard to pick.

Tindersticks debut, Is a Woman and this all make my top 6 or 7 albums. Then Tindersticks II, Boxer, High Violet and ...Quit Smoking make my top 30.

Tindersticks are the ultimate 'relationship angst' band of all time and that puts them right up there.

Tindersticks first may just be one of the most elegant and moodily beautiful albums of all time

High Violet and this, over tindersticks II and Curtains. I dunno.

Any of 'em over Oh Ohio? I dunno.

I do really need to finish Lambchop's discog and then delve into Tindersticks... I'm sure they'll end up in the top tier for me too.

My 'Top 100 Albums' is due its yearly update on the 1st of October so got some last minute listening to squeeze in before I settle on how to rank my 5s.

High Violet hit hard when out of the blue I entered my thirties and was a miserable bastard. Thankfully I've passed that stage of my life now and am just a joyless cunt who listens to jazz. tindersticks however are working their magic with all the sly witticism and ridiculous French film homage.

Lambchop are rich, satisfying as hell and boring as fuck.

I dig.
