Serious as in take themselves seriously

A band can be good and not take themselves seriously, but when you're a jazzy tech death band with pretentious album names calling yourself eatpoo is a bit jarring lol

speaking of thrash are there any other thrash bands who also have a sterile, cold aura around their music like Meshuggah? Can just be another extreme metal band.

Sybreed is cold and sterile, but they combine the chugging with a lot of melody and synths. Their Antares album is insanely good

ye but the main appeal of Meshuggah is their mechanical, cold sound

also fuck off in no way does Periphery remotely come close to sounding like Meshuggah
