I forgot about Silcoon. What a terrible Pokemon. The worst ever is Luvdisc lol, can't believe that really made it into the game.

Farfetch'd at least had its iconic moment in gen 2, which is more than many Pokemon get

You mean chasing it around that forest? Yeah, Farfetch'd gets a bad rep, there are worse Pokemon.

'Pokemon and Doom were my childhood, man'
Truth. I think Red/Blue came to the states when I was in seventh grade. They eventually banned them at school because too many of us were caught playing under our desks during lectures. I will never forget when I completed the Pokedex in Red after begging classmates to trade with me. Of course I did the Mew and Missingno tricks, too, and eventually ruined my game cartridge.
Doom...now there's something that goes even farther back. I remember my father buying Doom for me at our local Blockbuster. It came on four separate floppy disks and had trouble running on our Windows '95 machine (we didn't even have internet at the time). But my god I played that game every single day. Memorized all the secret areas, started doing self-timed speed runs (before I even knew those were a thing). Looking back, probably not a great game for a fourth grader to be playing, but, the times they were a-different as they say.

Oh, tectac, we must be the same age then. My dad got me Doom when I was little too - like five years old maybe? I was instantly hooked.
I still play user-made doom wads and pokemon rom hacks/rpg maker games. They are much better than what the official devs release any way.
|
| |
Haha yep. I was using ZDoom for a while and doing nothing but playing online multiplayer. Team Deathmatch with custom wads was so much fun. Pistols only was a good time.
Doom II was pretty sweet, too, just not quite as memorable. Super shotgun was easily the best addition.

Doom II added new monsters, which had the potential to kick the gameplay up a notch or two, but ID at the time didn't make full use of them. Level design was pretty meh for the most part too. I think that had mainly to do with the fact that it was a rushed release.
Plutonia is awesome though.
