all u need to start chortles is the basic open chord shapes for major and minor chords, dont do anything else till you can finger those easily, strum with a decent rhythm and play simple stuff like...well, like some of the pink floyd bits like Mother or pigs on the wing

dude no lie like two months ago when i started guitar i used this website called nextlevelguitar the guy was awesome pretty cool and i kept on jacking his online lessons which are really good and go in order pretty well. i pretty much cheated by using the 3 day free trial and just going incognito once it ended and making a new account and starting it all over again and again and again lmfao
i still use it here and there but like i would at least spend 4+ hours a day learning off of it it's really good and doesn't get boring
you should try it chortles if you wanna learn

yeah, i still encourage you to definitely teach yourself and experiment as much as possible but like just acknowledging some theory and lessons helps a bit when you feel like you've hit a brick wall

id say just learn basic chord shapes, build your finger calluses and have fun trying to play simple strummy stuff you know at the start, more fun that way and more likely you'll keep at it
plenty of time for scales and theory later
but take your pick, Ethics way works too
