This was the first Gorguts album I ever heard. I discovered it on some metal forum where people where debating whether or not this album sucked. It was duch a fascinating discussing reading people discuss the album that I went out and bought it.
It definitely does not suck.

Yeah, some people might prefer standard death metal to this. I for sure think this is death metal at the highest potential of the artform, though. Like what modernist composers were doing for classical music at the turn of the 20th century. Just breaking it to pieces.

Good to know. I didn't realise until a friend pointed out to me what this album cover actually was.

I always thought of it as dude/monk that's sort of learned and meditated til he became a higher being. I like how the lyrics on here resent the human form and complain about how this frail body/human experience is limited. I feel something similar to that most days.
