Bowie? Looked more like Elvis on a speedball.

I miss Kyuss era Josh. A dude that just shut the fuck up and played heavy-as-balls riffs. This sex symbol shtick sucks.

And I'm sure there's someone out there who calls you smart, but that's not everyone.

I think anyone who carries the vaguely glam pop torch is associated with Bowie, because it sounds nicer than the reality of a bunch of 50-year olds cutting a pandering pop record with a pandering pop producer.. album is a big ass step back for them no matter how you slice or negotiate it..

Like I said on the previous page, I hear no Bowie on Villains. All anyone can cite for this argument is Josh's singing voice and general attitude I guess?

I mean, he worked with Iggy who looked up to Bowie. I'm sure some of that inspiration leaked into Homme's style. I hear it in his voice quite a bit but I also hear hints of it in the song writing and structures on Villains. I don't know but I don't seem to be the only one.

It seems pretty split down the middle on whether there's Bowie influence on Villains. I can hear it in the vocals sometimes I guess, but not beyond that. Villains being the band's Scary Monsters is an apt comparison, since Low/Heroes era would be the artsy, more experimental style (...Like Clockwork) before moving in a more straightforward pop direction with Lodger and Scary Monsters (Villains).

Hopefully the Bowie comparison doesn't last, cause he went on to do Let's Dance, which was decent, but then went downhill for a bit after that...

I love Villains almost as much, if not as much, as ...LC. But I agree, I don't want them to stay on that style forever. Pretty sure they wouldn't though.

Someone please tell josh to stop dancing like an obnoxious bastard in a leather jacket, also tell him he's not greased lightning ... And to stop dancing.

He's been doing a lot of that lately hasn't he? Thinks he's the ginger Elvis.
