"Why do people say things like this"

Because opinions and reasons?

it doesnt make sense. if you get more enjoyment out of something, it is better *to you*. there is no objectivity in music despite what other ppl on here say

No, because I can tacitly agree that Jane Doe is a stronger record from a songwriting/album standpoint, but this one is catchier and more of a sonic "best of" of their entire career in one record. Kinda like how I prefer to listen to Bad Religion's True North sometimes instead of No Control or Suffer even though those are the "classics" and are the better records. Because you can be as objective as you want about any aspects of the music you listen to, derp. Sometimes I blast Jane Doe because I can't get that feeling from anything else they do, and I'll blast this for the same reasons.

"sometimes preferring" to listen to something over something else you like better is one thing (obviously, or everyone would just listen to their favorite albums)... but saying *album A* is 'technically better', but i like *album B* more" doesnt make sense to me. "classic" status and context or whatever shouldnt influence your personal opinion on a piece of work. maybe you view it differently

Also the set list for his tour pretty much favors this record.
