Yeah, most of the best tracks here are the deep cuts. And agreed re: Breed, that's one of my most played Nirvana songs too. So fucking punchy and addictive

Is Lounge Act the only true Krist song? Idk I'm a couple of beers in there are certainly others. Maybe that's why I love it but it's def a top 5 Nirvana song for me (Breed is like No. 2, punchy and addictive is right! Probably why Aneurysm is my favorite). Something in the Way is great fs, but wow I love In Bloom

i’ve honestly never understood the “overplayed” thing from anyone under like 40. do people who arent at least middle aged still listen to the radio? where else is anyone hearing lithium constantly? what am i missing here?

At least for me, a zoomer who got into Nirvana circa 2014, Smells Like Teen Spirit became so ubiquitious as rock music's identity that I'd listened to it in some manner or another a million times before ever being exposed to it. It's the template of what was dying and gasping for breath when I got into music. In a strange way, Smells Like Teen Spirit is the only grossly dated moment in Nirvana's discography

I’m 26, I didn’t really have any streaming services until well into high school when I got a job. I’m honestly not even really sure they were a thing long before that aside from like, Pandora. So that’s 16 years and some change of my white trash ass dad listening to nothing but whatever was on the radio. I knew every word to Smells Like Teen Spirit (that I could understand at least) by the time I was like 10. Lithium, Come As You Are, and In Bloom where on almost daily rotation as well in my city. Drain You and Polly also got a lot of play.

Since then the station has moved on to some of the bullshit that’s popular now, I couldn’t really tell you what they’ve played in the last few years but I remember hearing Imagine Dragons and new era Fall Out Boy the last time I listened to it, but I’m almost positive they still do their “Way Back Weekend” segment, and that’s when the Nirvana’s, Pearl Jam’s, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc etc will come on for 72 hours.

So yeah, a lot of hearing the local alt rock radio station basically burned half of this album into my mind. What’s really funny is that we have a “classic rock” station too and I heard Smells Like Teen Spirit on that and all the older folks at my work collectively had a minor meltdown lol

Also, when my dad finally upgraded to siriusxm, I found out that the grunge and 90’s alt channel is literally just called Lithium. So there’s that on top of it.

oh you’re definitely right dominion, I think if I didn’t hear a single track off this record for like five years I’d definitely have some new found appreciation for it. But even now some of these tracks are still kinda unavoidable at least in some of the spaces I hang around in

giving this a full front-to-back listen for apparently the first time since making my lastfm in 2016

used to spin this religiously in elementary school... and it took a minute for it to circle back around but kinda now realizing how influential this ended up being on my taste (especially the territorial / drain you / lounge act / stay away run)

end stay away at the 2:00 mark and its literally a turnstile song

i don't think i ever need to hear the singles from this ever again but the deeper cuts are still pretty great imo

can't hear something in the way any more without thinking about emo robert pattinson bruce wayne. the inclusion of that song in that movie was so fucking goofy still love it tho

I never finished that Batman film, think the franchise is done - Nolan covered everything that hadn't been covered before.

They should leave it at least two decades before even thinking of casting another Batman. I'd say three decades to be super safe, do something else.

i loved the first 2/3s of that movie, wasn't so crazy about the overblown ending

i'm surprised they've casted so many jokers post-nolan... leto, joaquin, now keoghan. will never understand people's hard-on for seeing that character over and over again when there are dozens of other cool batman villains
