Yeah same here. It took a lot of listening honestly for me to really start to like Converge.

Well I found out about these guys through this site and everyone was like OMFG you need to listen to Jane Doe what's wrong with you. So I finally caved, probably rated it like a 2.5 or something, then I had my heart broken and I just wanted some "fuck everything" music and Jane Doe clicked. From there I've really only listened to Axe to Fall and All We Love, I mean I really like them as a band but I'm not enough of a metalhead to care enough to retrace their early discog. I'll keep with them from now on though with each subsequent release, just as I've done since approximately 2010.

I had Jane Doe at a 2 for a long time then it finally clicked for me too. Still don't think its best, but still.

This album is emotionally and musically superior for me. To me this album is the struggle of life and the things and people we must leave behind to live our own life.

Jane doe on the other hand seems typical whiny "girl broke up with me" lyrics. If I want a "fk the world" album I'll put something evil as fk on and if I want something emotional I'll put on a soul shattering album.

Don't get me wrong JD is still amazing but mostly musically and not emotionally.Thaw is still probably coolest converge song.

That has less to do with the lyrics and more to do with the just unrelenting aggression and anger on jane doe tho. I get the whole breakup argument side of things, cos that what it literally is, just not the whiny bit haha

One of Converge's most consistent records, hard.
