Death is rad so let’s make that clear. There have just been plenty of other bands that pushed the envelope in various ways and had more to work with since Death already helped to build the foundation.

and im like my dudes u realize tsop came out in 97 and fuckin unquestionable presence came out in 91, focus came out in 93, erosion of sanity also 93 and those are just some of the most well known, not even talking about demilich, carbonized etc. etc.

I listen to Focus more than any Death album

I first heard Death on tv because I was listening to the metal music channel when Crystal Mountain came on and I hadn’t really heard anything like it, I was mostly into more mainstream metal or the “best” of scene Christcore trash so I was pretty intrigued. Eventually I ended up coming back to them much later after spending a few years infatuated with Skramz and Deathwish/Hydrahead bands, so death metal has been the most recent thing I’ve gotten into. My first three main bands that got me into dm were Death, Gorguts and Mitochondrion lol

Yea I just happened across Erosion and Wisdom both used at my local record shop for $20 each and was like hmm why not and bought them blind lol
Mitochondrion intrigued me when I read the review here and they kinda blew my mind as well
