also the sloppiness/amateurishness on PF was kind of endearing, but on Mantle it kind of works against it because they were trying to sound all deep and profound

exact opposite for me, Key. it's too sloppy on PF but I find it just rough enough to feel like it's being made in real time on Mantle.

I used to find it all endearing, until I didn't.

The Mantle has been falling off quite badly in more recent times, feels like it has long since served it's purpose. Only ever revisit this and Ashes. All you need from these guys tbh.

I can spin ashes at any time and I'll have a wonderful time. This one not so much.

am I the only one who finds Ashes kinda lifeless and synthetic-sounding? .___.

it's tight and mechanical and devoid of (most) pretense, that's why it's best

also it just sounds really good. like everything is super crisp. prob the best sounding snare drum in metal tbh

I've grown more and more fond of Serpent/Sphere...really unique record - indispensable for me

Honestly every record of theirs is very revisitable on occasion. I've always liked Serpent, though I remember souring on it due to everyone being so negative about it. Thankfully idc anymore about that sort of stuff. The record I'm enjoying more than ever before is Marrow tho, the atmosphere is just fucking beautiful here (again, like on all of their records). Very special band imo
