imo it's much better to start with red and discipline and then go backwards or forwards depending on which you like more. if i had only listened to court i'd have never fallen in love with this band. NEVER

This is cool. Ahead of its time. Too slow though.

DDD, give their album 'Red' a shot. IMO it's their best work and it's not quite as slow as this. (Even the 'slow' songs have faster jam breaks and whatnot.)

Agreed. Red is their best record but this is almost just as good

Red is basically as proto-Tool as you can get. A couple of sections of Starless and Falling Angel especially

TKS for the insights. I enjoyed this, my fave section was the closer's outro, almost radioheadlike LMAO I m looking fw to check red.

Red is amazing, but there is too much Mahavishnu Orchestra fusion in that period for me to put it as high as this. I actually might prefer Bible Black these days. Fracture is nutty.

Their run from this to “Red” is absolutely phenomenal.

Yes it is.
Don't sleep on 'In the Wake of Poseidon', either. It gets unfairly brushed aside as 'Court: Part II' (and it kind of *is* a spiritual successor to this) but goddamn it's incredible.

I second that. Love the direction they took on “In The Wake Of Poseidon”...

This is probably more watershed/influential/groundbreaking, but 'Red' is definitely peak KC. It's just absolutely insane from start to finish. My only minor complaint is that I don't like the way 'One More Red Nightmare' abruptly ends (Talk Talk did a similar abrupt cut-off on 'Laughing Stock' that annoys me) but rest of the album is legitimately perfect.

Deep in a 2019 binge at the minute, then effectively ‘banning’ new music staring in Jan 2020 and prioritising artists I’m already partly familiar with.
