Burden is the weakest link on this album. Even porcelain heart has its good moments

I just could never get into it. Especially since I had been so excited for a new album after GR (one of my favourite Opeth albums), and it just felt so generic.

what's so bad about downtuning the guitars at the end of burden? it sounds awesome to me.

Nah, this is anything but generic. This stands out among the Opeth discog so much, with their (relative) experimentation in their songs.

Yeah I don't understand who anyone could think this is generic, and the downtuning at the end of Burden sounds awful

It has some pretty cool parts, but more incredibly mundane ones.

Downtuning at the end of Burden sounds awful [2]

I don't understand how you can call small things like that generic either, even if you don't like it

Generic by Opeth's standards. This coming after GR is like PC after Heritage, not bringing much new to the table

If anything, GR didn't bring anything new to the table. It was just them doing what they had already done for years prior, but it was done well is the point. This is a bit more polarised, but you have to admit that they injected some very fresh and new ideas into this

GR is better though and plenty diverse
