I always get hesitant with the "symphonic" tag. Symphonic tend to favour keyboards a little too highly, I love keyboards but I definitely think there should be a balance between the guitars and keyboards. But I think Opeth need to experiment with weird vocal and guitar effects, etc. Symphonic progs been done a lot.

I think albums like close to the edge have a good mix of both instruments, I'd love to see opeth make an album like that

I think Mikael runs the show almost completely and Heritage displayed larger keyboard presence, so it would seem Mikael doesn't mind the keyboards up in the mix.
