yall remember the greatest show on turf 2 aka the 2023 steelers preseason offense? i will never take preseason as a serious indication of anything ever again.

I like preseason if there are rookies to watch or a competition of some sort. Patriots preseason should be interesting because of all the new blood there. Anyone watching preseason outside of their home team is unhinged.
^ remember preseason Kenny Pickett hype???? i drafted him late in fantasy based solely off that hype last year

Lmao unfortunately I initially bought into the Pickett hype smh
|

the nfl youtube usually posts "every caleb williams throw" type videos for rookies during the preseason that i like to watch
as someone who doesn't watch cfb i have literally never seen these guys play before
|
| |
i will never understand americans who religiously watch the nfl but not college
|
| |
idk i've just never understood the appeal of cfb at all besides rooting for your alma mater or if you're from a part of the country without an nfl team.
the nfl is a well oiled machine with the best talent in the world. cfb is... lets just say NOT that?
tho i grow increasingly disenchanted with the state of the nfl seemingly everyday anymore so
|
| |
you've never understood the appeal of more football?
|
| |
sundays with the occasional monday or thursday is more than enough for me... especially as we progress to the inevitable 18 game season with games on five days a week and 16 playoff spots
|
| |
also don't pretend that more than half of nfl games aren't unwatchable trash and cfb is this lowbrow product in comparison lol
|
| |
both things can be true
|
| |
less is more, same with a lot of sports. Greed overtakes logic
Yeah some of the NFL is already a watered down product, no need to expand it further (it’s also why redzone is king because the odd dud isn’t as felt in that scenario)
|
| |
both things can be true [2]
cfb is def a worse product by comparison because the competition discrepancy is massive. i enjoy the top ranked matchups but i won't tune in to watch my shitty school get blown out by bama or whatever lol. the nfl also has its fair share of shitty games but at least i (generally) feel like both teams belong on the field
and huge [2] to less is more. love that i get a 3 hr window one day a week and then i can move on with my life if i want. i got other shit to do tbh
|
| |
if you think raiders broncos or giants panthers is more entertaining than a lot of college games you are brainwashed by the shield. or basically any thursday night game lol. you just can't tell me you think most nfl games are actually high quality games.

I don’t think anyone would say those games are more exciting than a Top25 matchup but to say that the large majority of CFB games aren’t sloppy blowouts is just disingenuous.
My Alma mater (Colorado State) was borderline unwatchable when I was there
|
| |
of course there are bad college games, never said otherwise. my issue is people holding the nfl on a pedestal when most of the games quality are just as bad if not worse than college games.
it’s like nba fans who thumb their noses at march madness because of “quality”, it’s disingenuous and just lame as fuck
|
| |
"when most of the games quality are just as bad if not worse than college games."
this is just completely false though
and the march madness thing is a false equivalency. due to the single elimination format march madness very arguably IS the best basketball product there is, and is highly superior to the product the nba puts out in march.
meanwhile i don't think there's a similar point in the calendar where cfb is doing something different/better than the nfl is in the same way... besides i guess taking place on a more convenient drinking day

Well with the influx of international talent in the NBA, it’s fair to say that March Madness isn’t as relevant anymore when looking out for potential pro talent. It’s not like the NFlL where 99.999% of players can be watched at the college level in the US.
I’m a big defense guy and CFB just doesn’t do it for me. I also could never find myself committing an additional weekend day to football
|
| |
idk what is so controversial here. the talent is less developed and the gap is wider in cfb. you get a lot of lopsided or wacky games in cfb, which have some entertainment in their own right, but it's not something i'm sitting down to watch. the best cfb games beat a broncos raiders matchup, but i'm absolutely watching broncos raiders over your avg fbs vs fcs game. i'll catch the highlights when there's an upset lol
to be clear, i ain't really tuning into broncos raiders unless i've got nothing to do. it's not about the nfl being a paragon of quality. plenty of dogshit nfl games too

Anyone on west coast waking up for the Germany game between the Giants and Panthers should consider therapy
